FIRENZE CANOTTIERI MEMBERS' COURSES


Club Rowing Courses for all ages are available to our members.
By enrolling in our club you can try our rowing courses. Our tutors are qualified by the Italian Rowing Federation and will teach you rowing techniques and specific athletic preparation for rowing. The course you will follow is a learning process that will gradually lead you to start rowing on training boats, accompanied by the instructor, a path which will lead you to rowing in the waters of the Arno on your own.

Rowing courses with our coaches

This course performed by our trainers is mandatory for anyone who wants to learn to row and achieve a degree of independence in rowing. It is divided into several phases:
  • "Dry" lessons on the ergometer oar (rowing simulator) to learn movement
  • Basic technique in indoor and outdoor rowing tank on floating platform
  • Double boat trips with instructor
  • Single boat rowing for under instruction
  • Single boat rowing
Course duration varies from 1 to 2 months. The end of the course is dependent on the degree of learning
by the Member and their ability to be on the boat alone without the help of the coach.
Once this maturity is reached, the Member will be given a rowing level which they will correspond to the types of craft on which you can row. The level of rowing will vary over time and will be updated by our staff.
To improve technique and your level, the Club will make available to members a paid personal trainer. 
Reservations can be made at our office.

Our tutors are available during the morning. 
Group lessons and individual rowing lessons can be arranged and booked through our office.

Stretching courses

Stretching is an English word that means lengthening. It is a term used in sports to indicate a certain number of exercises aimed at improving muscle elasticity.

It is essentially an excellent training method which consists in extending the muscles well through a constant practice that facilitates joint mobility.

The benefits of stretching are many. First of all it increases flexibility and muscle and tendon elasticity, with a clear improvement in ease of movement.

It also prevents muscle contractures and elongations in general, decreasing fatigue in certain cases.

Postural gymnastics course

Suitable for all members who wish to reach competitive sport level or who want to start again or improve their motor activity. 
This course aims to improve:
  • Joint mobility to maintain and recover the optimal functionality of each movement;
  • Stretching activity to reduce contractures and consequent pain due to muscle stiffness;
  • Muscle tone to correct postural defects and restore body tone;
  • Proprioception (the sense of position and movement of the limbs and body that occurs independently of sight) to re-establish coordination and balance, preventing injuries and improving the economy of the exercise;
  • Intensive course: suitable for all members with medium-high physical preparation;
  • The objective of this course is to integrate the training of members to help them achieve their goal. Aerobic and anaerobic training, muscle building with different weights and coordination will be addressed;
  • Compatibly with the wishes of the Members, such training could also be carried out outdoors;
  • It is possible to have private lessons.

All Club group courses are not subject to a fee.
